Taxi boss shot dead
Kensington – A 63-year-old Johannesburg taxi operator was shot and killed while on his way home from work on Monday afternoon, according to police.
Police spokesperson Brigadier Mathapelo Peters said the Taxi Violence Unit was activated following the fatal shooting of the man in Kensington.
“It is alleged that the deceased was in his car on his way from the office when shots were fired at him by unknown suspects at the corner of York and Allum streets. He was declared dead on the scene,” Peters said.
Police have launched a search for the suspects and appeal to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has information that could lead to their arrest to contact their nearest police station, or call the Crime Stop number on 08600 10111.
