Smoke Incident at Public Safety Headquarters Warehouse in Martindale
Emergency teams responded swiftly to a smoke incident reported at the Public Safety Headquarters in Martindale on Friday afternoon.
At approximately 13:50 on Wednesday, smoke was observed coming from the Integrated Intelligence Operations Centre (IIOC) warehouse located at 195 Main Road. Officials immediately activated safety protocols, evacuating vehicles parked near the warehouse and directing them to the adjacent main building as a precaution. Fire suppression operations were promptly initiated, and the blaze was successfully extinguished within 15 minutes.
According to preliminary information, the warehouse was largely unoccupied at the time and mainly housed old and broken furniture. The fire primarily damaged the stored furniture, while the building itself sustained partial smoke damage.
No injuries were reported. Authorities have confirmed that the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
