The four-day celebration of Soweto, I Love Soweto is a showcase of Soweto’s creative prowess and everything amazing about it; the people, the music, the food, the entrepreneurs, the trendsetters, as well the passion and joy of this wonderful place.
It kicks off at Soweto Theatre with one of the best poetry shows in the country, Poetic Thursdays which will once again feature a line-up of some of South Africa’s finest wordsmiths, namely Sabelo Soko, KB Kilobytes, Neo Mabena Experience and Common Man.
Friday is Biscope, Cheese and Wine Night with an exclusive South African movie.
Saturday I Love Soweto hosts Soweto Art and Craft Fair, which will feature around 30 stalls selling proudly South African fashion, art, craft, food and more.
The day will also feature live performances by some of South Africa’s best live bands in BCUC, Makhafula Vilakazi, Abantu Native as well as DJs Teedo and Dj Mo Faya.
Seven Colour Sunday’s DJ line up is also one that will have people dancing their heart out. It features the sounds of DJ Jaivane, Sifiso Shezi, DJ Buhle and Schots.
Because one of I Love Soweto’s main aims is to promote local business, Soweto entrepreneurs and the township economy, all through the four days there will be a night market selling great fashion, food, craft, home décor, art and more. The event will run on 12-15 December.
