Dark Beauty takes off in cinemas
After much anticipation of the proudly South African movie called Dark Beauty, it is officially in cinemas since 23 June 2023. Every South African must watch this breath- taking movie this youth month.
The movie stars Limpopo Boy and many other famous actors that stepped up their talent to impress the South African audience. The film is about Youth Empowerment which is perfectly aligned with youth month.
Dark Beauty was selected in Silicon Valley film festival in California, USA as well in Sotambe Zambia for best feature 2022. The highly entertaining drama is recommended for the whole family as it aims to educate while entertaining.
The film is now playing in the following cinemas Ster Kanekor Cinemas: Maponya mall, Mall of North at Carnival and Sterland. Cine Center Cinemas: SunCoast in Durban and Killarney Mall in Johannesburg. Century Cinemax Cinemas: Northgate Mall.
Nompumelelo Nkabinde the producer says “Dark Beauty is a proudly South African film designed to empower our youth, build families and inspire the nation. We encourage every family to watch this highly entertaining drama”.
The film is directed by Germain Atabe who is also best known as a screenwriter. The director has vast experience and was nominated best director in 2022 for Dark Beauty. Germain is also a writer and director of Mzamo currently airing on Mnet- Dstv.
Njabulo Media is the production company that has brought this highly sought after film to life. The Dark Beauty team also expressed that they have overcome heavy hurdles because producing the film was no easy task but were motivated by the script that was carefully written to communicate an inspiring message.
Putting together the cast and crew was another endeavour, as the film was self- funded. Nompumelelo says “However, by God’s grace, we were able to shoot the entire film within two months. Postproduction took a few months than anticipated as we were faced with challenges”.
It appears the challenges were worth it because now the cast gets to share their talents on the big screen. The film is a testament of ‘hard work does pay off ‘because the movie is already a resounding success.
