A 30-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the alleged rape of a 95-year-old woman in Vleisboom village, within the Hlogotlou policing area in Sekhukhune District, Limpopo.
The incident is reported to have occurred on Friday night, 9 January 2026, at the elderly woman’s home. According to police, the victim was preparing food at around 22:00 when she was confronted inside her house by the suspect, who was known to her and allegedly armed with a knife.

Following intensive investigations, police were able to trace and arrest the suspect on Saturday night, 10 January 2026. Acting Limpopo Provincial Commissioner Major General Jan Scheepers condemned the alleged attack, describing it as a grave and disturbing crime.
“The arrest of this suspect demonstrates our unwavering commitment to bringing perpetrators of gender-based violence to justice, particularly those who prey on our most vulnerable community members,” said Scheepers. “The brutality displayed against a 95-year-old woman is utterly reprehensible and will not be tolerated in this province.”
He praised the investigating team for their swift action and assured the public that the case would receive priority attention as it moves through the criminal justice system.
The suspect is expected to appear before the Nebo Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 12 January 2026, where he will face a charge of rape.
