Inner-city police operation successful

On Thursday, September 12, Gauteng Police conducted a high-density operation in Johannesburg Central and Hillbrow to prevent and combat crime.

The operation was led by the Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Tommy Mthombeni Joined by the Deputy Provincial Commissioner: Policing Major General Fred Kekana and Johannesburg District Commissioner Major General Max Masha.

The operation yielded positive results, including:

  • Seizure of six bags of dagga and counterfeit goods.
  • Arrest of 139 illegal immigrants, addressing concerns around undocumented persons
  • Arrests for various crimes, including drug-related offenses, contravention of the Pharmaceutical Act, PSIRA, damaging essential infrastructure, and employing undocumented persons

“This operation demonstrates our commitment to building safer communities through proactive policing. We will continue to engage with residents and stakeholders to address concerns and improve our services,” said police spokesperson Captain Tintswalo Sibeko.
