The Chinese Consulate General in Johannesburg continues to play a crucial role in strengthening sub-national cooperation between China, Gauteng, and the Free State. By investing in education and student support, the Consulate General reinforces its dedication to nurturing people-to-people connections, which serve as the backbone of strong international relations.

Advancing Education for a Brighter Future

As Nelson Mandela once said, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” Recognizing this, the Chinese Consulate has prioritized education through its “Driving Education Culture” project, collaborating with universities, schools, and local governments to foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

The bursary program announced at this event provides financial support totaling R498,000 to 18 learners from UJ, WITS, VUT, and SWGC. This initiative aims to ensure that talented students facing financial hardships can focus on their studies without additional burdens, reinforcing the commitment to empowering the next generation through education.

Investing in the Next Generation

The youth are the future leaders and innovators, shaping the course of nations and the world. The Chinese Consulate General encourages young learners to embrace opportunities, strive for excellence, and actively engage in global cultural and educational exchanges.

Students are urged to explore opportunities in China, becoming ambassadors of China-South Africa friendship. Such initiatives contribute to building a high-level China-South Africa, China-Africa community with a shared future.
