ZOR Restaurant Brings Soulful Fine Dining to Dainfern Square

Food lovers, media personalities, and culinary enthusiasts gathered at Dainfern Square for the official launch of ZOR Restaurant a new dining destination blending fine dining with soul, warmth, and creativity.
Owner Andile Zulu welcomed guests with gratitude and pride, sharing how ZOR was born out of love and legacy. The restaurant’s name, he explained, is inspired by his daughters a tribute to family and the dream they helped inspire. “ZOR was born from a simple but powerful idea to create a space where fine dining meets soul, where every plate tells a story, and every note of music adds flavour to the experience,” Zulu said. “You don’t just eat food you experience it, capture it, and share it in a way that inspires others to explore new flavours and places.”
Guests were treated to a curated tasting menu by Chef Absalom, whose dishes brought bold local flavours together with elegant, contemporary presentation. From the first bite to the final dessert, the menu captured the heart of ZOR’s vision passion, creativity, and warmth served on every plate. Speaking at the event, Chef Absa said his mission was to create food that resonates emotionally as well as gastronomically. “Every dish we make has a heartbeat,” he said. “We want people to taste home, heritage, and heart but in a way that feels elevated and new. Cooking is storytelling, and at ZOR, every plate tells its own chapter.”
The tasting experience was accompanied by live music, soulful energy, and an inviting atmosphere a perfect reflection of ZOR’s philosophy that food and rhythm belong together. Zulu closed the evening by encouraging guests to share the ZOR experience far and wide. “What’s good food if it’s not shared?” he said. “I hope every bite tells you exactly what ZOR stands for passion, creativity, and heart.” The launch set the tone for what promises to be one of Joburg’s most exciting new dining spots a restaurant built on flavour, family, and fearless vision.
