Working Hand in Hand to Rise Against Hunger

Nearly 60 IIE MSA students recently volunteered their time to pack 6480 balanced and nutritious meals to give back to the Rise Against Hunger Africa during the campus recent wellness week to help fight hunger, nearly 60 IIE MSA students recently volunteered to assemble food packages from start to finish for Rise Against Hunger.

The food packages consisted of rice, soy, dehydrated vegetables and a packet of 20 vitamins and minerals. Said Nadine Sandrock (National Fundraising and Marketing Manager Rise Against Hunger): “We are so grateful for the continued partnership with IIEMSA. We packed 6480 meals with the student champions. The meals will feed 28 children at a Childhood Development Center for an entire year”. Rise Against Hunger Africa, an organisation that aims provide food and aid to communities in need and empower those communities to become self-sufficient in the long term, was invited to attend the NGO Open Day during the IIE MSA’s recent Wellness Week. IIE MSA is an educational brand of the Independent Institute of Education (The IIE).

Teana Ramroop (IIE Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting student IIE MSA) added: “Participating in the Rise Against Hunger packing initiative was an inspiring experience. Seeing the dedication of my fellow peers to address hunger and to make an impact on communities was motivating. Knowing that our teamwork contributed to making a difference was even more rewarding.” The IIE MSA Cares (student volunteer body) team offers students an opportunity to learn more about the NGOs in surrounding areas and to volunteer their time to give back to the community. It aims to create a holistic experience which aligns with IIE MSA strategic intent.
