Theatre to host SEAfrica conference

The 5th annual Showbiz Entertainment Africa (SEA) conference will be held at the Soweto Theatre on 26 and 27 September.

  The event, led by industry experts, is open to all creatives willing to invest in their careers with a vibrant exhibition of industry suppliers, live entertainment, and food venders in the exhibition area, which will be open for both event days and free for all to attend.

  The expo area offers visitors invaluable discounts and connections with leading players in entertainment.

  On the first day of the conference legendary John Kani will impart wisdom from his 34-year career in the industry.

  Industry development manager for SABC, Nirvina Singh will present the intricacies of doing business with the public broadcaster in Getting Ready for the 4th Industrial Revolution a must attend session for anyone with dreams of breaking into the industry.

  SABC entertainment commissioning editor Milly Summersgill will host a session on techniques necessary for proposing TV content to the national broadcaster.

  The second day will present topics like Ways to make it as a creative entrepreneur, and Secrets of a social media trend – digital viral marketing presented respectively by Avril Joffee, head of Cultural Policy and Management at Wits School of Arts; and Lauren Dallas,  founder of the Growth Academy and co-founder of Future Females.

  The venue will present a session on Rights Symposium facilitated by Nomsa Mazwai. Munyaradzi Chanetsa, head of licensing and new business at Capasso will present the topic Staying on the rights side of online entertainment and open a panel discussion titled Your work, your copyright, discussing the impact of the 2017 copyright amendment bill.

  This will be before entertainment hustler of note Siya ‘Slikour’ Metane, founder of SlikourOnLife, in his session called How to up your creative hustle online.
