Maharishi Park: A Game-Changer for Community, Sports, and Education

Marshalltown has welcomed a new beacon of hope and opportunity with the grand opening of Maharishi Park on March 19, 2025. This state-of-the-art sports and recreation complex is a major addition to the Maharishi Invincibility Institute (MII) campus, promising to enhance community engagement, athletic excellence, and holistic education.

A Collaborative Effort for Positive Change

Developed in partnership with Jozi My Jozi, a people’s movement and urban renewal organization, Maharishi Park is a testament to the power of collaboration. Generous funding from One Resources Group (on behalf of the One Foundation) and global sports flooring company Belgotex has brought this vision to life. The facility is designed to serve MII students while also contributing to the broader Johannesburg community’s urban renewal efforts.

Cutting-Edge Sports and Recreation Facilities

Maharishi Park boasts modern multi-purpose fields for basketball and soccer, along with a fully equipped sports clubhouse. These new facilities complement MII’s world-class fitness center, fostering physical well-being, academic success, and personal development.

“This is more than just a sports facility – it’s a space where potential is unlocked and communities are strengthened,” said Dr. Taddy Blecher, CEO of MII. “By combining world-class amenities with our consciousness-based education model, we are shaping future leaders who excel in mind, body, and spirit.”

Revitalizing the Inner City Through Sport and Education

The impact of Maharishi Park extends beyond sports—it plays a key role in revitalizing Johannesburg’s inner city.

“Maharishi Park is a model for how cities can invest in their greatest asset: their people,” said Bea Swanepoel, CEO of Jozi My Jozi. “Revitalizing urban spaces isn’t just about infrastructure; it’s about restoring pride, creating economic opportunities, and giving young people a place to dream, play, and grow.”

A Platform for Youth Empowerment

The development of Maharishi Park is a reflection of MII’s ongoing commitment to youth empowerment and sustainable development. With backing from One Resources Group and Belgotex, the project aligns with broader initiatives to foster innovation, equity, and education.

Robbie Brozin, co-founder of Nando’s and director of Jozi My Jozi, highlighted the importance of timing and opportunity. “There is no better time than now for the creatives and the ‘crazies’ to wake the nation. Johannesburg, as the host city of the G20 Summit, presents an incredible platform to showcase our city to the world, starting with transformative projects like MII and Maharishi Park.”

A Community Celebration

The grand opening event featured guided tours, live sports demonstrations, and inspiring speeches from key stakeholders. The event underscored the significance of Maharishi Park as a space where education, sports, and community vision come together to build resilience and shape brighter futures.

“We’re proud to support a space that will inspire future generations,” said Dr. Blecher. “This is a legacy of hope, built on the belief that every person deserves the opportunity to thrive.”

With its top-tier facilities and a mission rooted in community transformation, Maharishi Park is set to become a cornerstone of development in Johannesburg, proving that when education and sport unite, incredible things happen.
