Gunmen hijack Uber driver
Yeoville – On Saturday evening an Uber taxi driver was hijacked at the Louis Botha Avenue and Bedford Street in Yeoville, according to police.
Hillbrow police spokesperson Captain Musa Shihambe said the victim; Frans Nyathi explained that he was approached by two men at the intersection.
“They pointed firearms at him and ordered him to unlock the door. They pushed him to the back seat and told him to lie down. The suspects drove with him for about 30 minutes and took him to an unknown veld and forced him to lie down. They took his cellphone and R300, searched the vehicle, then they drove away with the vehicle,” Shihambe said.
He added that on his way to report the matter to the police, Nyathi managed to get a phone and called his tracking company to locate the vehicle.
“While he was reporting the matter to the police he got a call from the tracking company and was told that the vehicle, an Audi A4, had been recovered at Bertrams,” Shihambe said.
