Gauteng Finance MEC to table 2024 Mini-Budget

The MEC of Finance and Economic Development, Lebogang Maile, will present Gauteng’s 2024 Medium-Term Budget Policy Statement (MTBPS) and the Adjustment Budget to the Legislature on Tuesday, 26 November 2024.

This year’s MTBPS comes at the start of the 7th Administration Term of Office, therefore MEC Maile will use the “mini-budget” to set the tone, outline the priorities of Gauteng government and how public funds will be used to strengthen the economic growth, create jobs, and boost the fiscus over the medium term.

MEC Maile’s address follow’s the Finance Minister’s Medium Term Budget Policy Statement (MTBPS), a demonstration of South Africa’s openness and accountability on spending.

During the delivery of the MTBPS in October, Minister Godongwana highlighted four pillars to spur on inclusive economic growth, namely:

  • Maintaining macroeconomic stability.
  • Implementing structural reforms.
  • Building State capability.
  • Supporting growth-enhancing public infrastructure investment.

Cabinet has also come to support the statement delivered by Godongwana, which MEC Maile is expected to take most of his cues from.
