EMS on high alert for fires
Johannesburg – The City’s Emergency Services (EMS) department has urged residents to be safe during the cold front, and use devices such as heaters carefully.
The Joburg EMS warned that the cold conditions may increase the risk of fires; and said disaster management teams have been deployed across the city to attend to any fires that could break out.
EMS spokesperson Robert Mulaudzi said they remain on high alert, monitoring all seven regions of the City.
“We would like to encourage residents to look after heating devices such as heaters, paraffin stoves and candles, and not leave them unattended while in use, so that we can prevent incidents of house fires,” Mulaudzi said.
