Cellphones worth R400 000 hidden in dustbin
Johannesburg – On Saturday police arrested a man and his wife for alleged possession of stolen cellphones, who were linked to the theft of new handsets worth R400 000, according to police.
JMPD spokesperson Wayne Minnaar said a tip-off led their undercover unit to the top of a building at corner Lillian Ngoyi and Rissik streets in the Joburg CBD. “The brand-new cellphones, which were still in their boxes, had been hidden in a dustbin. The cellphones were allegedly stolen from Exact, a shop in Northwest Mall in Mahikeng.”
The two suspects have been charged with theft and being in possession of stolen property.
