Car crashes into shack, kills sleeping man

Soweto – A man was killed on Sunday morning when a car crashed into the shack in which he was sleeping, Netcare paramedics said.

  Netcare paramedics spokesperson Shawn Herbst said the incident happened on Impala Road in the direction of Protea Glen.

  “Paramedics responded to the incident on Sunday morning. Reports from the scene indicated that the driver of a light motor vehicle lost control, resulting in the vehicle leaving the road and crashing through an informal settlement. The car went through a shack where an adult male was sleeping,” Herbst said.

  He added that when the paramedics assessed the scene, they found that the man who had been sleeping had sustained fatal injuries; and he declared dead on scene.

Authorities were on scene to investigate, Herbst said.
