I wish all our residents a blessed, joyous, and peaceful festive season
With the arrival of the festive season, comes an opportunity for all of us to reflect on the year that has been 2017.
For me, it has brought with it the chance to make a difference in the lives of others.
In my role as the Mayor for the City of Johannesburg, I had the opportunity to see communities get greater access to health care through the implementation of extended operating hours at clinics; seen 3672 title deeds given to residents who have never known the joy and dignity of owning a home; witnessed residents take ownership of their communities by helping to clean the city through the A Re Sebetseng clean-up campaign; and have felt in immense pride in seeing 1500 residents enter the City’s service as new JMPD trainee officers, who will help to keep our cities safe in the not so distant future.
Despite all this, there is still much to be done in order to bring improved service delivery to our residents throughout the City. I remain up to that challenge.
I would ask that we spare a thought or a prayer for those less fortunate than us, and where possible, that we give back to our communities in whatever little way we can.
Finally, whatever you may choose to do, or wherever you may choose to visit during this festive season, please keep safe, especially on our roads.
I wish all our residents a blessed, joyous, and peaceful festive season.
