Hijacking suspect shot dead
Johannesburg – A car hijacking suspect was shot dead and a JMPD officer injured in a shootout in Hillbrow on Friday, according to police.
JMPD spokesperson Wayne Minnaar said a metro police officer is in a critical but stable condition following the shootout with suspected car hijackers on Friday evening.
“The shootout occurred when the police traced a hijacked van to Hillbrow. JMPD K9 officers received information on the location of the van. When officers tried to stop the van, a shootout ensued. The JMPD officer was rushed to Milpark Hospital, and one of the suspects was arrested,” Minnaar said.
