EYE Athletes Shine at Johannesburg Junior Tournament 15 Qualify for Interprovincial
Egoli Youth Empowerment (EYE) is proud to celebrate a historic achievement at this year’s Johannesburg Junior Closed Tournament: 15 of our young squash players have qualified for the Interprovincial Championships!
This marks a record-breaking moment for our programme and a major leap forward in our development journey.
To put this into perspective:
- In 2023, we had just 4 players qualify for the Interprovincials.
- In 2024, that number doubled to 8.
- Now, in 2025, we’ve nearly doubled it again reaching 15 qualifiers!
This remarkable growth reflects the relentless hard work, discipline, and passion of our players, who continue to train and compete with heart and determination.
But our success is not theirs alone. We owe a great deal to the dedicated EYE coaching team, who go far beyond teaching technique. They are mentors, motivators, and a second family to our athletes nurturing not only talent but also confidence, character, and a strong sense of community.
This milestone is more than a sporting victory. It is a story of growth, mentorship, and resilience proof of what can happen when young people are supported, believed in, and given the tools to thrive.
We are excited for what lies ahead not only for our players, but for the future of squash in South Africa. We hope that our journey inspires others in our community and beyond to invest in youth, build supportive spaces, and believe in the power of potential.
