Chocolate heist woman arrested

Roodepoort – A woman who was allegedly involved in a business robbery with 15 others at Jet Park, Boksburg, has been arrested.

  Police spokesperson Captain Mavela Masondo said the 26-year-old woman was arrested in Roodepoort on Monday.

  Masondo said the group of 16 robbers, one of them a woman, travelling in two trucks allegedly entered the premises of the company a few weeks ago and held up security guards at gunpoint.  “They ordered the employees to load boxes of chocolates into the trucks; and also allegedly stole employees’ cellphones and fled the scene.”

No injuries were reported.

  Masondo added that police opened a case of business robbery and have launched a manhunt for the suspects. “Part of the police investigation is to establish if the gang is involved in other crimes, especially where the same modus operandi was used.”

Police are still searching for the 15 others.
