Banyana Banyana defender Bambanani Mbane has signed a one year deal with FC Dinamo Minsk of Belarus.
Mbane said she is grateful for the opportunity and will do the best she can to help the team succeed.
“Right now most important is to settle quickly before the start of the season at the end of March so that I am ready. As for the jersey number 13 I have been given, the same as I wear in the national team, it came as a surprise and I could not say no to that number. I am happy I get to keep the same number as in the national team,” she said.
The former Bloemfontein Celtic Ladies player is now the only South African in Belarus after the Banyana Banyana duo of Rachel Sebati and Letago Modiba left that country. They have found a new home in Turkey with the ALG Spor soccer club.
Other South African women players abroad are Refiloe Jane (Italy), Thembi Kgatlana (Portugal), Linda Motlhalo (Sweden), Regina Mogolola (Serbia), Zanele Nhlapo (Albania), Rachel Sebati and Letago Modiba (both Turkey), Amogelang Motau (USA) and Ode Fulutudilu (Finland).
