Chinese Consulate, Western Cape Police Strengthen Cooperation on Security
The Deputy Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Cape Town, Wang Xiao, held talks with the Director of Criminal Investigation Affairs of the Western Cape Provincial Police Department, on Wednesday, 13 August.
The meeting took place at the Chinese Consulate and focused on enhancing cooperation in law enforcement and public safety. Both sides exchanged views on the current security situation in the Western Cape and discussed measures to protect the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese citizens living and working in the region.
Deputy Consul General Wang emphasized China’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with South African authorities to ensure the safety of its nationals. He also expressed appreciation for the efforts of the South African Police Service (SAPS) in addressing crime-related challenges that affect both local and foreign communities.
Major General Maksharala highlighted the importance of international cooperation in tackling security issues, noting that the Western Cape Police Department values its working relationship with the Chinese Consulate. He further assured that SAPS remains dedicated to improving community safety and safeguarding the wellbeing of all residents and visitors in the province.
The engagement reflects the growing partnership between South Africa and China, not only in trade and cultural exchange but also in security cooperation aimed at fostering stability and mutual trust.
